Champlain was an ultimate example of this.&amp;nbsp; I'm impressed.&amp;nbsp; Despite the fact he was a Frenchman. ;)&amp;nbsp; I can imagine little more soul-crushing than deep and lifelong specialization.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;As they put it back then in &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saintongeais"&gt;langue xaintongeaise,&lt;/a&gt;
